Updated: Dec 3, 2022

Harris L. Kligman, author of Spy, Adventure, Mystery and Historical novels, answers a few of his readers questions surrounding his seventh novel release.

"Hakoah" is a historical novel that follows the lives of a young man and woman who become intertwined as they struggle to survive during the Zealots' rebellion, A.D. 66-70, against Roman rule in Judaea.

Confronted with hostility and death from mercenaries, Roman Legionnaires and their own people, they discover something that binds them together as they struggle to live for another day.

In response to a recent Twitter Q&A, the following questions were submitted to author Harris L. Kligman.

"Who are the Zealots you write about in Hakoah?"

According to Harris L. Kligman, "The Zealots were a political movement in1st-century Second

Temple Judaism which sought to incite the people of Judea Province to rebel against the Roman Empire and expel them from the Holy Land by force of arms, most notably during the First Jewish-Roman War A.D. 66–70."

"What was the result of the Zealot revolt of AD 66?"

According to Harris L. Kligman,"The Zealot revolt of A.D.66 was a confrontation between the

mainly Sadducee Jerusalemites and the mainly Zealot factions of the Northern Revolt, under the command of John of Gischala and Eleazar ben Simon. The result of the revolt erupted into bloody violence against Roman rule that continued for years."

"What happened to the Zealots?"

According to Harris L. Kligman, "The majority of the Zealots died in the siege of Jerusalem.

Those Zealots who fled to Egypt were rounded up, tortured, and executed. Others fled to a mountain top whose rock formation was shaped like a mesa, some thirteen hundred feet above the western shore of the Dead Sea."
